Electronic Ticketing is a distribution option that frees an airline customer from the need for a paper airline ticket for boarding an aircraft. Electronic Ticketing stores computerized passenger travel information for airlines, reduces ticket deliveries for agencies, eliminates lost tickets for passengers and provides them last-minute change options and faster airport check-in.

FEATURES

Sabre Travel Network™ has developed and commercialized a full suite of Electronic Ticketing solutions that benefit airlines and travel agents. The integrated suite of Electronic Ticketing offerings delivered through the Sabre® global distribution system includes:

  • Interline Electronic Ticketing – Ability for travel agencies to issue interline electronic airline tickets for travel on more than one carrier within the same ticketed itinerary. Interline Electronic Ticketing improves communication between airlines regarding electronic ticket status and makes it easier for passengers using electronic tickets to change travel plans and carriers while en route.
  • Unused Electronic Ticketing Report – Consolidates and lists unused electronic tickets on one convenient report, allowing agencies and airlines to better manage customer’s travel dollars.
  • Electronic Ticket Exchanges and Refunds – Enhances and simplifies complex ticket refunding, reissuing and exchanging processes for both paper and electronic tickets.

If a carrier selects Electronic Ticketing as its preferred ticketing method, the Sabre system will automatically request an electronic ticket when the booked flights qualify for Electronic Ticketing. In other words, the Sabre system will insert the electronic ticket record (ETR) parameter into your ticketing entry.
