Sabre Web Services

DESCRIPTION

Sabre® Web Services provides easier, faster and more flexible access to Sabre Travel Network’s system functionality and products. Through the Internet, you can integrate Sabre® global distribution system products and services – all the functionality needed to sell travel – with your own applications and databases. Sabre Web Services is ideal for agencies with no Sabre system format expertise that want to build or update a customized booking application for their Web site.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Reduces development costs
  • Streamlines development process
  • Provides single point of access to the Sabre system
  • Increases development speed — uses XML, SOAP travel industry standards

FEATURES

As technology advances, you require easier and lower cost ways to build your own custom booking application for the Web. You also need easy access and the flexibility to integrate travel content with your own systems and databases. And to gain a competitive edge, you need to be able to get your product to market fast. With Sabre Web Services, you can do all of this. Plus, it makes it easy to build (or update) a comprehensive travel booking Web site that meets your unique business needs.

It’s simple. An Internet connection, and standard industry development tools and skills are all you need. The reason for the simplification? Sabre Web Services is supported by technologies developed by the OpenTravel Alliance using Web services generic technology standards backed by Sun, IBM and Microsoft. These standards enable different systems to “talk” to each other using one interface – not many – and eliminate the need for screen scraping and translating cryptic Sabre® Data Source (SDS) and Sabre system messages.

As a result, developers do not need to understand the complexities of Sabre system formats. And your agency receives all the functionality needed to sell travel: air, car rental, hotel, passenger name record (PNR). This is all achieved through the Internet, saving you time and money.

The Basic Sabre Web Services package includes the following:

  • Platform independence — Sabre Web Services can be used regardless of your own development platform
  • Integration of multiple data sources into one business application
  • Business logic that streamlines transactions with the Sabre system
  • Sabre system communications components hosted by Sabre Travel Network, the world’s largest electronic network for travel buyers and sellers

The Premium Sabre Web Services package takes you to a new level. This package is a flexible and high-performing suite of commands that reduces the complexities of user interaction with the Sabre system. It offers:

  • Greater flexibility —You have more control over which services are executed, in what series and how often
  • More robust responses — More specific requests lead to more targeted responses
  • Higher performance — Because each premium service correlates to one Sabre system command, performance is comparable to that of a green screen command
  • Improved transaction cost-efficiency — You are able to manage your sessions as defined by your business needs
  • Easier migration — Premium services map to individual Sabre system commands instead of several bundled commands, lessening migration complexity
