USTravel has become one of the most successful travel companies in the Pacific Northwest
Alaska has a lot to offer. With savory seafood, fresh air and beautiful scenery, it’s just a great place to explore. And according to Mark Eliason, the owner of USTravel, it’s also a great place to start a travel company. USTravel expertly handles both corporate and leisure clients and has grown to be the largest privately-held travel management company in the Pacific Northwest. What’s its secret?
One, USTravel has chosen a strong technology partner. With its fast growth, the company wanted to convert to a GDS that supported future expansion. Chief Operating Officer Julie Crotts remarked, “As we’ve grown, we’ve gotten tired of piecing together older software. We wanted one GDS with dynamic systems that can all talk to one another easily.” USTravel made the transition to Sabre, and the conversion was seamless. After the change, Sabre and USTravel implemented QIK Developer, a product that simplified group reservations by reducing 40 percent of the manual keystrokes required to input passenger names.
Two, USTravel did the due diligence when transitioning to new products. The company spent many weeks with Sabre to ensure it was getting the perfect solution for its workflow. USTravel provides world-class service and value, and it expected Sabre to support this commitment. Crotts reflected, “With 28 years in the travel industry, I’ve been involved in four big technology conversions and this was by far the best experience.”
We’re honored to have USTravel as our partner in travel, and we appreciate the chance to share the story of their success.
