Overview
Sabre Travel Network is the leading provider of innovative travel distribution solutions for travel agencies and suppliers. Sabre Travel Network also manages the industry-leading Sabre® global distribution system (GDS), the world’s largest electronic marketplace where multiple travel providers display information about their products, and warehouse and manage inventory.
The Sabre GDS is a primary component for travel and transportation information for over 50,000 travel agencies, major travel suppliers, Fortune 500 companies and travel Web sites around the globe. It serves as a distribution source for travel content from more than 400 airlines, approximately 77,000 hotel properties, 32 car rental companies, 11 cruise lines, 35 railroads and 220 tour operators. The Sabre system provides users with schedules, availability, pricing, policies and rules, as well as reservation and ticketing capability for travel suppliers. In 2005, more than $80 billion of travel products and services were sold through the Sabre system.
In addition to providing information to subscribers about airlines and other travel-related vendors, the Sabre system allows travel agencies to print airline tickets, boarding passes and itineraries. The Sabre system also includes travel information on matters such as currency, medical and visa requirements, weather and sightseeing.
Sabre Travel Network also provides innovative technology products and services to Sabre ConnectedSM travel professionals worldwide to enable them to serve their traveler customers effectively and to enhance their business operations. Travel marketing solutions are also offered to travel suppliers to enhance their cost-efficiencies and offer special marketing messages to targeted travelers through their travel agent.
