Martin Cowley is Senior Vice President, Sabre Travel Network for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), a role he assumed in July 2007.
In this role, Martin leads a team of 300 employees based all over the world who collectively speak 14 different languages. A position requiring strong cultural skills, Martin is responsible for building on Sabre’s growth in the EMEA region by continuing to find ways to better serve the dynamic and specific needs of Sabre’s EMEA customers.
Based in London, Martin was previously the Chief Executive of Sabre Pacific in Sydney where he was responsible for Sabre Pacific’s business operations in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Martin has over 25 years of global experience in the airline, travel and distribution industries. He spent 20 years with the Swire Group holding a variety of executive roles in nine countries, predominantly with Cathay Pacific. Among some of the roles with Cathay, he spent three years as the Regional General Manager for France and 18 months as General Manager of Alliances based in Hong Kong. In the latter role, he was a founding member of the oneworld management team and played a notable role in the establishment of the oneworld airline alliance.
While in Sydney he was Chairman of the Board of Airline Representatives for two years during the period immediately prior to the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000. He was also on the board of Cathay Pacific Catering Pty Ltd. In 2000 Martin Cowley joined Concorde International Travel as Group Chief Operating Officer, a role which he occupied until 2002 when Concorde was sold to its current owners.
Prior to joining Sabre Pacific, Martin acted as an independent consultant to airline and travel companies, including providing strategic advice to Sabre Pacific during 2003-04.
A graduate in Modern Languages at Oxford University, Martin is fluent in English, French and German.
